DeSoto County Scholastic Chess Mini Grand Prix
In order to encourage more students to participate in an scholastic chess tournament
outside the school they attend, DeSoto County Scholastic Chess (DCSC) will continue the
Mini Grand Prix Prizes for the school year 2007-2008.
Participants in tournaments designated as DCSC Grand Prix events in the
Tournament page will accumulate
points from them until the Annual Mid-South Summer Chess Festival in May.
Grand Prix points awarded for each event will be based upon game points won or draw.
Any school may organize a chess tournament, but not all can be accomodated in a single
school year due to date conflict. To discourage concurrent tournaments, schools who
participate in the Grand Prix will be given priority with advertising and support.
Potential organizers must submit their tournament plans to DCSC. All schools will be
treated equally, the first tournament submitted for a date will be given priority to
be designated as GP Event. Please submit tournament date requests as early as possible.
Tournament plans can be submitted up to a year in advance.
Funding for the DCSC Grand Prix prizes is from proceeds of the tournaments organized
by DeSoto County Scholastic Chess not designated as School Fund-Raising.

If a student plays in an equal number of
tournaments in more than one group, that student will compete for
